Induction Day and Parents' Information Evening - Tuesday 5th July

Welcome - welcome to all our new Year 12s and, in the evening, their parents.

A prompt 9am start (you can go in the Common Room!) - the programme will be put up on the Common Room doors.

We spend all day doing vital preparation for September (if you miss this you will need to contact us urgently as you may not be able to start courses) as well as getting to know each other.
You will spend time with your tutor group and with Year 13 and all your questions should be answered. It will be an enjoyable and informative day.

In the Evening the structure of new A levels and BTecs will be explained, there will be opportunities for Parents to meet tutors and familiarise themselves with the new website for the Sixth Form - and to sign up for email contact.

We very much look forward to seeing you.

UCAS...

Hi all

On Wednesday in assembly we will be looking at UCAS on the big screen. We will show you how we can see your forms and check on your progress. We will look at common errors (best check you haven't done anything silly like put the wrong fee code when the guidance in the Career Management module tells you exactly which one to use!!! Watch out Nathan - you could be up for exposure!)
We will look at the number of you who have put your statements on your forms ... and look at any problems you may have encountered.
There are still several of you who have not even started!! Watch out Nick Bull, Susanna Whymark, Camden Clark, James Lewis to name but a few who somehow didn't manage to create a form despite having an entire session dedicated to the process on Academic Review Day - as well as all the time since. Tut..tut.
However - these absences are compensated for by Lloyd who has done 3 applications so far... oh the excitement at finding out how many he may be up to by Wednesday!!!
Keep checking on Open Days folks and be doing all your resarch thoroughly. It would be a hugely costly mistake if you get it wrong.

Higher Education Evening - Thursday 23rd June

Hi all

Please remind your parents that the Higher Education Evening is on Thursday at 7pm.
There will be admissions tutors from universities giving up-to-the-minute news on finance, as well as hints and tips on how to successfully apply to the best university for you.
Some students from last year will be with us to talk about the realities of their first year and things to look out for. We are also expecting a student who has taken a gap year with more invaluable advice on how to get the best out of the experience. Finally, Mr Towers, a parent will be with us to give the parent's perspective and suggest ways to survive the departure of your first born!
Afterwards we will have refreshments and the opportunity to ask questions.
We look forward to seeing you on this important and interesting evening.

THURSDAY 9TH .. Academic Review and entry to Year 13

Hello.. hello

A reminder to all you A level students returning to the Sixth Form to enter Year 13. The Academic Review on Thursday is the first step to enrolment and you need to be in the Theatre at 9am. On this day you will also start your 'Problem Solving' activities and commence applications to university. Please reset your body clocks so you arrive on time!

MOST IMPORTANTLY - the next day... 9am sharp.. departure for UCS. YOU MUST BRING LUNCH WITH YOU... there are not facilities to buy food at the university and very little locally, so, unless you are looking to lose some weight, please ensure you have food with you.
