BUSES TO SUDBURY
by Jan Kilpatrick - Sunday, September 5 2010, 06:19 PM

Hi all
If you have lessons at Sudbury tomorrow then you need to be prompt to the bus park to catch the shuttle bus. If you have a lesson first thing you DO NOT REGISTER! The bus leaves very shortly after 9am so make sure you don't miss it.
The bus runs transfers between the two sites after every lesson (first thing, break, lunch and the end of the day)... a timetable of precise times of departure is up in the Common Room - and I will publish confirmation of times on here once I have heard from the bus company tomorrow (this may be affected by the number of students travelling between the sites... sometimes we may need two bus journeys if there are lots of you). If there seems to be a problem with timings or overcrowding please let us know straight away.
Thanks - and have fun smile

Year 13 - UCAS
by Lynne King - Thursday, September 2 2010, 11:48 AM

A reminder to all year 13's returning tomorrow. Following on from the previous notice, you need to ensure that your personal statement is on your UCAS application. We have members of the Universities admission teams in tomorrow who will be checking your statements to make sure they are acceptable. Please print off a copy to bring with you for this purpose.

Thank you

Mrs King

CONGRATULATIONS
by Jan Kilpatrick - Thursday, August 26 2010, 01:02 PM

Another year to be very proud of the results in the Sixth Form. Last year our 'value added' results placed us top school in the County - and this year the sixth formers were even more successful. A special mention must go to Andy Towers for gaining 4 A* at A level in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths, and an A in Geography at AS. He is off to study Chemistry at Durham University.

Jamie Hyde achieved A* in Spanish, and A’s in English Literature and French and will now go to study Languages at Cambridge.

Sarah Smith achieved A* in Spanish, and A’s in Law and English Language, and an A in Food Technology at AS. She will go on to read Hispanic Studies at Sheffield University.

Thomas Barry achieved A* in Maths and A’s in Further Maths, Chemistry and Biology. Billy Vango achieved A’s in Geography and Maths, and B’s in Further Maths and Physics. Stephanie Sims achieved an A* in Psychology, A in English Literature and B in German. Ashleigh Cant achieved A’s in History, Law and a B in Psychology. Ellen Gough achieved an A in Biology with B grades in History and Maths.

There were many other notable successes - so congratulations to you all. Liz Ginno and I have not had to see many year 13 students to sort issues out so clearly the UCAS system put in place in the college seems to be working effectively. well done and good luck in your future careers. We look forward to seeing you back with us for the Awards Evening on Friday 17th December.

Return to College - Friday 3rd of September
by Jan Kilpatrick - Monday, August 23 2010, 09:14 PM

Hi everyone
We all return on Friday 3rd: Year 12 to a full Induction Day programme and Year 13 to an academic review and completion of UCAS.
Having just checked the UCAS site I note that there are still some people without personal statements, with incomplete education sections (you must add AS and A levels - both dated June 2011) and incomplete university choices.
You will have heard in the news, I am sure, that this year 186,000 students failed to get their choices and ended up in clearing. Unfortunately there were only 18,000 places available in clearing - so many, many thousands of students have been disappointed. Next year will be worse - especially as many of the students who failed to get a place this year will be trying again.
It is therefore IMPERATIVE that your UCAS application is stunning and ready to go early....
You cannot go home on the 3rd until you are completely sorted and the expert panel of admissions tutors who will be in say that your application is excellent. So fingers out all and really focus on completing that form now.
If you intend to seek work you still need to complete the form as it provides all the information for future references - it simply will not be sent to UCAS just placed in your file.
I shall be checking the site regularly so I know who we need to focus on helping to finish at the start of term. If anyone needs any advice just email me

GCSE results and Sixth Form enrolment
by Jan Kilpatrick - Monday, August 23 2010, 04:35 PM

The time has come!! winkthoughtfulmixed Results will be available in upstairs B block (the Sixth Form study centre) from 10am until 1pm tomorrow. Don't forget to complete your Sixth Form registration form and give it to Mrs King before you leave. Some of you will need to talk to Dr Talbot, or to me, before you will be able to submit a registration form - so if you think there may be a problem, seek us out. We will be interviewing in the office and meeting room upstairs all morning.
I attach the registration form so you can check your choices for clashes prior to tomorrow.... hard copies will be available in school. Don't forget to ask for one when you pick up your results.
Good Luck and see you in the morning

Ta and Good Luck.

Team prize - Problem Solving
by Jan Kilpatrick - Thursday, June 17 2010, 08:47 PM

Well - this is going to be difficult! Dr Talbot, Mrs King and I got round a lot of groups today and saw some fabulous work. Everyone seems to be really engaged and producing some really professional results so how we pick the top ones amongst you, I don't really know.
Apologies to those groups we could not find.... can you please come to the office at 9am so we can identify when/where we will come to see you? It is year 9 subject day tomorrow so the good doctor and I will be having to see students and parents, but I'm sure we will be able to get to you before the end of the day. It does mean that you MUST get to us at 9am before we start seeing parents though... ok?
Keep up the good work
